Dear Dad and Mom,
When I was young, you taught me to pray, find direction and comfort in God’s Word, and to love the Lord Jesus as My Savior. Thank You.
This is the Legacy every Christian parent desire most. We teach our kids many valuable life skills, but to introduce them to the one who created all things, and gave himself to save us, there is nothing greater.
In Exodus 20, the first commandment given with a promise to the people of Israel was to Honor Your Father and Mother. In Ephesians 6, Paul reiterates the significance of this teaching and that to do so produces a life lived well and full of years. What an incredible promise! We understand how meaningful this truly is for us, children who have become parents. When we think about how we grew up, our parents were likely central to the story. Memories of how they sacrificed for us and the lessons they taught us through their words and their decisions resonate in our hearts even today. So, how can we honor them?
Honoring Your Parents is a powerful privilege we have as children and honoring them is to uplift and affirm them strongly! As children, we have the power to impart a blessing, and in so doing, we celebrate our parent’s life forever! Let’s decide to honor them today.
Here are a few ways you can do that:
- Today, honor them by posting a picture on social media accompanied by a note acknowledging your parents’ impact on your life. Add the hashtag #victoriousfamily for us to collect all the stories! (…only to be shared with your permission)
- Take a step further and honor your parents by attending a Charting Your Family Spiritual Course workshop and invite them to join you. Contact us at doyourchildrenbelieve@gmail.com
- Lastly, gift a set of new parents with the Parenting HomeKit or a 90-minute session with Dr. Chatmon. You might be asking; how does this last item honor my parents? Honoring our parents is most visible when we reproduce and multiply it. Extend the investment your parents made in you by sharing it with others!
When families come together to honor who we are in Christ—God is glorified. Let’s be victorious in Him today.
